Praying God Promises For our Children

In previous posts, I have talked about the need for us as mothers to know the promises of God for our children, so that when we pray for our children we are not praying for things that God did not promise them.  If we look up the word promise it means an assurance that one will act as specified.  The New Unger’s Bible dictionary defines promise as a solemn assertion, by which one pledges his veracity that he will perform, or cause to be performed, that which he mentions.
In other words, what God has promised He swears/pledge that He will perform it. Numbers 19: 21 God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?
Having given this reminder let us look at one of His promises in Ps. 37:23-26:
“The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in His Way.  24 Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the LORD upholdeth him with His hand.  25 I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.  26 He is ever merciful, and lendeth; and his seed is blessed.”  (KJV)
Let us pray that out Children will have their steps ordered by the Lord and that they will delight in His way.  Take comfort in knowing that if they fall or stray from what they know, be certain that the Lord will hold them up so that they will not completely be cast down.  David in verse 25-26 adds to our assurance in saying that throughout his life He never saw a righteous person forsaken or this children begging for food.  He continued to remind us that God is ever merciful and because of that our seed is blessed.  Be comforted.

In His Service,

Vilma
